The daughter of Robert and Catherine Garrett Scott, Jennie was well loved. Unfortunately, her young life ended in tragedy.
Jennie was happily involved in the preparation for her older sister’s wedding. Nannie, the older sister, was planning to bring Jennie with her when she moved to her new home in Chicago, Illinois.
One evening before the wedding, Jennie was asked to call her father to tea. As she went into the room an oil lamp hanging on the wall above her exploded. She suffered horrific burns which eventually ended her young life.
Her death caused the family to go into mourning. Her older sister, Nannie, postponed her wedding until the next year, so she could cope with the loss of her younger sibling.
Jennie now resides near her parents in Woodland Cemetery Section 7.
