Nannie Scott was born in Decatur, Ohio to Robert and Catherine Scott. On a train trip back to school, she met a man named Marshall Fields. He and she soon became a couple.
In 1863, Nannie Scott married Marshall Fields. The couple had planned to marry the year before, but the death of Nannie’s sister, Jennie caused the wedding to be postponed. Nannie gave birth to three children.
Marshall became a very rich man and eventually became known as “Chicago’s Merchant Prince.” Because he was so concerned with gathering wealth, Marshall neglected his wife. Nannie grew unhappy.
She went to France to be with her son who was sick at the time. Unfortunately, Nannie was the one who died. She was buried in England where her daughter lived.
