Christian Yingling was born in Western Pennsylvania on the waters of the Youhiogheny on April 24, 1788. His father, Andrew Yingling, moved to “Alexandria” on the Ohio River near the mouth of the Scioto River in 1797.
In 1798, Christian moved to own home near Hanging Rock, Ohio. This house would remain his home until his death.
He married Martha Lee on October 18, 1814. She was the daughter of Reverend John Lee, pastor of the Storms Creek Church.
He died on September 12, 1856 at his home near Hanging Rock, Ohio.
